Dairy Milk Advert

Posted by liljim Sep. 12, 2007 @ 7:22 PM EDT

I already posted this on the forums, but I love this too much to not stick on here as well.

I had the TV on as I was finishing up tonight and thought that the show I was watching had finished, since I caught a glimpse of a gorilla out of the corner of my eye, and I'd been reading a thread on animals reaching the point of extinction. Gorillas seemed to be topping that bill and I thought what I was seeing might have been the start of a documentary. I was wrong.

Clicky Clicky.

What the hell was that?!

Sep. 12, 2007 | 9:12 PM Shipoopi222 says:

What does that have to do with the product?

Sep. 12, 2007 | 9:17 PM liljim responds:

Good question - but the best viral ads are those which leave you wondering what you've just seen, or those which make you want to send the ad on to people. So I suppose, in my case, that job has been fulfilled on the ad agency's part.

Interesting concept, but it's just a bit too long, too annoying. To make it worse, it doesn't have anything to do with milk.

I don't think people who go on the Internet often would care to send this ad to other people, and those who don't go on the Internet often probably won't see the ad.

I should have explained what Dairy Milk is here - it's a chocolate, so those in the UK viewing this ad know exactly what it's about once it's done playing. And I think you're wrong about people sending the link about. If you google "dairy milk advert gorilla", you'll get a bunch of results.

I am stating the obvious when I say that was funny. I remember having tasted that brand of chocolate when I was a kid. I am not form the U.K. but they sell those chocolates where I was born.
