A bit about Music that I haven't Finished.

Posted by liljim Nov. 22, 2008 @ 10:57 PM EST

I'd forgotten how much I love (and, at the same time, loath) music production.

Listening to the same thing over and over again, whether engineering or producing, can drive you nuts, and it gets very, very repetetive: to the point where you get to the end of the day and don't want to hear anything musical for the rest of the day.

Aaaaanyway, things have moved on significantly, especially when it comes to digital music (and music programs.)

Rather than having to listen to the tracks you've recorded and try and balance them as best as you can in a mix down, you can also see them graphically.

I'm not a total relic - that sort of thing was available in programs like Cubase VST years ago, but it took a HELL of a long time to for those programs to compute said waveforms.

Will hopefully have some new Music for you guys to listen to soon. Unfortunately for those who hate the stuff I've already done, it'll all be remixes of old band recordings.

Music DOES get very repetitive.
Last year, i had to record part of Disco Inferno for a school project, and had to do it at school, so no editing on a program, no downloading it, so i had to start it and record it at the exact right time. FUCK THAT SONG.

As long as its not the shitty moving parts around kind of mixing, that's great.

Cool! You've told me how you used to really be into music. It's good to hear you're starting up again!

I know exactly what you mean.

IMHO listening to selfcreated compositions is anything but monotone. I could spend hours just looping the same track over and over in the background, liking it more and more each time. Other peoples loops have a different impact though, most of them.

Yeah, it can be repetitive, but it's so satisfying when the song is finally done!
